This year, CatCon was relocated to the spacious Pasadena Convention Center. The event spanned a weekend from August 12-13. The con was presented by Rachel Ray Nutrish, bringing in 15,000 cat and animal lovers alike. According to the official press release, “attendees participated in experiential activations, explored new products and fashion for both themselves and their four legged friends, and met with some of the most famous internet cats in the world. Over 150 cats and kittens were adopted in the 4,000 square foot adoption lounge created by Nutrish with felines provided by Pasadena Humane and SPCA.”
Many celebrities and well known internet famous cats were in attendance, including Pudge the exotic short hair, Nala Cat, Lil BUB, Jackson Galaxy, The Kitten Lady (Hannah Shaw) and many many more. We were impressed with the lineup of feline activists, especially The Kitten Lady who readily advocates fostering underprivileged or disabled kittens.
There were over 140 vendors at the con, showing off their cat themes wares such as clothing, accessories, art, furniture and more. One of our favorite vendors was Heathersketcheroos, a delightfully adorable artist who creates incredibly cute, charming and incredibly floofy characters such as Cat Bums. Heather has been drawing since a child and it clearly shows how much of a passion it is of hers. Her website features “Pay it Forward Prints” which is an opportunity to receive an additional exclusive print when you buy one print from her site. Sounds like a great deal to us!
Overall CatCon was a success this year. We were sad to see that Pusheen wasn’t at the con this year, but we hope to see her fat tabby face next time! We’re also looking forward to DogCon in 2018!
